Beginner Power Yoga - Levels I & II
This class provides an introduction to Vinyasa Flow Yoga for those new to yoga or those experiencing physical limitations. This class caters to beginners and advanced beginners who would like to work on building flexibility, strength, balance and stamina.
Foundation postures will be practiced through flow sequencing and will include basic standing poses, hip openers, simple back and forward bending, preparation for inversions and a focus on core strengthening. Participants will also learn the basics of Pranayama (breath control which helps to facilitate mind/body connection) and relaxation.
Power Yoga - Levels III & IV
This is the most challenging class on the schedule and is designed for those who have practiced consistently for some time, are very comfortable with the basics of Vinyasa Flow Yoga, and are looking for additional challenges to help further build strength, stamina, concentration, and flexibility. These classes move at a vigorous pace and explore more advanced poses, sequencing, and pranayama.
Full sun salutations, advanced standing sequences and seated poses with partner assisting will be practiced. A heavier focus on core strengthening, arm balancing, deeper backbending, and inversions in preparation for Ashtanga Vinyasa.
Yin Yoga - All Levels
The practice of the Yin Yoga technique can help increase flexibility and overall body awareness. Yin Yoga targets the deep, dense, rarely touched connective tissues - the tendons, ligaments and cartilage. The yin areas of the body generally targeted are between the knees and navel; the lower body. Yin postures are done primarily on the floor and held with little to no muscular effort for 2 to 5 minutes each. The essence of Yin is yielding- learning how to not struggle and how to allow things to unfold naturally.
Since Yin Yoga postures gently stretch and rehabilitate the connective tissues that form our joints, it is the perfect compliment to Yang activity (vigorous yoga, running, weight training, etc.). In order to maintain joint flexibility, we must exercise them, but joints cannot be exercised like muscles, we must exercise them in Yin fashion. Connective tissues require long-holds and reasonable amounts of traction to be stimulated properly. Some benefits are as follows:
• Experience new levels of awareness in each posture.
• Alignment corrections.
• May prove to be one of your best yoga experiences.
Enhance your Yang practice dramatically with this technique! Active people probably need Yin Yoga more than anyone else.

Kripalu Yoga is a Hatha yoga style often called the “yoga of consciousness” or the “yoga of compassion.” In Kripalu Yoga, we focus not only on the alignment and movement of the physical body and the breath, but also on the movement of energy in thoughts, emotions and witness consciousness. Experience yoga as a means of transformation and come home to your authentic self.
Continuing Beginner The Continuing Beginner class is for people who have completed the Kripalu Yoga Beginner Series or have equivalent yoga experience.
The Continuing Beginner class picks up where the Beginner Series ends, continuing to refine yoga poses (asana), breathing (pranayama), meditation and relaxation techniques. This is the perfect stepping stone for people who crave more of a workout than a gentle class offers, but are not interested in the more dynamic and challenging flow of the moderate class.
This class meets twice a week to maintain momentum, so you can continue increasing your strength, flexibility, and balance faster than you could in a class that only meets weekly.
Kripalu Yoga: Moderate
Prepare to move and sweat!
In Kripalu Yoga, we focus not only on the alignment and movement of the physical body and the breath, but also on the movement of energy in thoughts, emotions and witness consciousness.
Though we will sweat a bit more than in a gentle class using kundalini kriyas, vinyasa flows and holding poses, moderate Kripalu Yoga classes are safe and modifiable for any age, ability level, and body type.
THE CHAKRAS MONTH-LONG INTENSIVE Experience the movement and awakening of these focal points of energy in a month-long series intensive. The next intensive starts May 5th.
Space limited so register early!
